Keep Status On setup and scheduling guide
By the Keep Status On team
Keep Status On is a browser extension that helps keep your status online in Slack and Microsoft Teams at the same time. It does not guarantee availability: each service controls its own presence indicators. Use it in accordance with your organization's policies, not as evidence of work or attendance.
Installation and browser support
Use the official listing for your browser. Chrome, Brave and other compatible Chromium browsers can use the Chrome Web Store package. Microsoft Edge and Firefox have their own listings. Opera is submitted for moderation; the Safari version is in App Store review preparation and is not yet publicly released.
After installing, enable the extension and sign in to your Keep Status On account. Allow the browser permissions requested for the tabs you want to control. Signing in to Keep Status On does not sign you in to Slack or Microsoft Teams.
Set up Slack in your browser
- Open your Slack workspace in a browser tab and sign in to Slack.
- Open Keep Status On from the browser toolbar and sign in to Keep Status On.
- Select the Slack workspace tab and start a manual session or set a schedule.
- Keep the browser and the workspace tab open while the session runs.
If you use several workspaces, open each one in its own tab and enable the tabs individually. Keep Status On does not read Slack conversations to determine presence.
Set up Microsoft Teams in your browser
- Open Microsoft Teams for the web and sign in to the account you intend to use.
- Open Keep Status On and select the Microsoft Teams tab.
- Start manually or choose a timed, duration or weekly session.
- Keep the browser and Teams tab open. A browser extension does not control the Microsoft Teams desktop application.
Teams policies and your account's presence settings may still change the displayed status. Read Microsoft's official Teams help for service-specific settings.
Multiple tabs and weekly schedules
Select every tab you want to enable in the extension. Each tab has independent start, stop and scheduling controls, so Slack and Microsoft Teams can run together.
- Manual: start a tab and stop it when you are finished.
- Timed: set a start and end time, or an end time only.
- Duration: choose how long the session should run.
- Weekly: choose the days of the week and start/end times for recurring sessions, like a weekly alarm.
Review the schedule shown in the extension before starting. The browser must remain open; a schedule does not start a closed browser or wake a powered-off computer. Stop individual tabs when you no longer need them.
Limitations and troubleshooting
- Presence is not guaranteed: Slack and Microsoft Teams determine status. Network interruptions, sessions expiring, service policies and browser background restrictions can affect results.
- Browser only: the extension is not a native desktop mouse mover and does not control desktop versions of Slack or Microsoft Teams.
- Screen wake support varies: the extension uses browser power APIs or Screen Wake Lock where supported. Operating-system restrictions may prevent it from keeping the display awake.
- Tab not starting: confirm that it is open, the service is signed in, the extension has permission, and your account has access. Stop and restart the tab after navigating to a different workspace or account.
If a problem continues, contact support with your browser, the affected service and the error message. Never include passwords, messages, payment-card numbers or authentication tokens.
Access, billing and privacy
Sign-in is required. Access depends on the allowance or subscription shown for your account. When the daily allowance is enabled, eligible new accounts can use up to 30 minutes per UTC day; it does not reset subscription trial eligibility.
The web subscription is USD 2.99 per month after an eligible one-time 30-day trial with a payment method. Other currencies and the final terms are shown before checkout. Existing subscribers retain their plan terms. Safari Apple billing is being prepared separately and is not a live purchase option yet.
Read the privacy policy for account, installation and usage data handling, and the account deletion instructions. The local service-login indicator does not read conversations, passwords or service authentication tokens, and does not verify online presence.
